24 weeks pregnant – 2nd baby | Insomnia and viability

This is a short short post, apologies for not being good with these updates, hopefully I’m hitting some significant milestones! My last update was at 19 weeks and to highlight exactly how the weeks are flying by, I have a 22 week update sat in drafts… Oops! I’m now 24 weeks pregnant with Baby #2 which means viability, something I was so pleased to reach with H, and again this time round. It feels like a big deal.

24 weeks pregnant with my second baby

Pregnancy is flying by and I’m shocked that baby will be here in about 16 weeks. Like with Toddler H, my gut says they’ll be a tiny bit early. Fingers crossed anyway they’re at least on time as I don’t fancy being pregnant in too much hot weather! I do still forget I’m pregnant at times though!

So how am I feeling?

Shattered and struggling to sleep. I thought this was because I’m uncomfy in bed, but now it seems it that and big baby kicks! This sedate calm baby is developing her big sister’s kicking style – huge whollops!

Insomnia?

Big style! I’m waking and struggling to go to sleep. I don’t think I can blame kicks or pain or all of it either. I’m just wide awake. No reason. Just eyes wide awake.

Bump…

I posted this bump picture on Instagram a couple of weeks ago, at 23 weeks…

Here’s a 23 week/24 week piccy..

1st pregnancy vs 2nd pregnancy bump at 23 weeks and 24 weeks

Getting bigger! I’m sure that comparison of me at 23 weeks with H and 24 with Baby #2 definitely shows I’m bigger second time round. Though comparing the two 23 week photos, there isn’t much in it. Maybe my feeling that I suddenly popped (and all the comments I’ve had the last few days), I really have popped between 24 and 24.5 weeks.

The juggling act?

A 2 year old and pregnant…

This has been a hard hard week, it’s been half term and all our usual play groups and classes have been cancelled. It’s so hard to keep such an active toddler occupied, and H does thrive on her usual routine. I overdid it at the park on Tuesday, and H did too. Don’t get me wrong we had a fab time with her friends and me chatting with my friends, their mummies, as my comment on this photo atests to…

However, she then didn’t nap and has been overtired since. We both had a rubbish day – she went hyper and I just cried when hubby got home. Anyway I’ve now come to visit my parents for a few days as their plans changed so, my original plan of visiting them next week suddenly moved forward.

I’m hoping for some respite and rest while I’m here.

That’s it for now…. apart from mentioning…

Pregnancg cravings:

I’m still eating all the cake, chocolate and endulging in a coffee once in a while to get through and satisfy those cravings … Oh and some cheese and pickle sandwiches for lunch!

Congrats on reaching 24 weeks! I’m creeping up behind you now and can’t believe we have the 20 week scan next week. We been full of cold and other germs so I can’t tell if the pregnancy is really affecting me or now. The insomnia is starting to kick in a little and I know it will start to get worse soon – think I’ll just get up and do some blogging in the middle of the night! Love the bump pics xx #coolmumclub

You are not 24 weeks already! That has flown by. Insomnia sucks, I wish I had some words of wisdom but I do not. Xx

Aww I hear you when it comes to tiredness and trying to juggle being pregnant and having a toddler! I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant with my second baby and it is positively exhausting at times. Sorry to hear you’re struggling to sleep too – have you tried This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray? I love it for helping me relax 🙂 #MaternityMondays

Ah viability is such a milestone isn’t it! I was so relieved when I reached 24 weeks. I really struggled at 24 & 25 weeks with insomnia and back ache, now 27 weeks and either I’m used to it or just coping better! Hope you begin to get some sleep again x x #MaternityMondays

Ugh it’s so tough with a toddler. There’s a 4 year gap between my first two and that was sooooo much easier than the two year gap with this one. I feel your pain and it makes the insomnia even more annoying. Keep going love you can do it. #MaternityMondays
