Dreaming of a beach house… & winning with Lottoland

I hadn’t actually heard of Lottoland until earlier this year it’s quite a different concept to what I thought, it’s not a place to buy lottery tickets online, it’s a place to bet on the result. I’m not one of those people that play the lottery every week, I’m not one who buys scratch cards with every weekly shop… for a start I shop umpteen times a week, I can’t fit much in a trolley with a car seat also in there and a toddler threatening to pick up half the shop or running. However, I do spend time planning exactly what I would we do if we won the lottery. The holidays, the houses, the freedom to work as we wished. Oh those dreams are nice! They’ve changed a bit through the years, since I bought my first lottery ticket.

The first time I bought a lottery ticket was on my 16th birthday, I hoped that I would win enough to buy an Audi TT. That was my dream car. My first car ended up being a white Fiat Cinquecento. A brilliant car, with pink and purple swished at the back, a car that got me from A-B and had a steering wheel lock. I even had to buy a radio tape player for it and spent several hours choosing one from the Argos catalogue, oh how times have changed! These days, I’m more than double the age, and the car I’d probably buy is about 6 times the size of that Cinquecento! I think I’d be buying a SUV, a much more family friendly, something with a boot you could sleep in if we were camping and it was raining. Something I could pop a 7 foot Christmas tree in, or hubby’s criteria of it must fit a door in it!

I’d buy my parents a house near us so they could visit more but have their space. I’d pay off our mortgage, buy some shares to make sure the girls are well provided for, help a few charities that have meaning to our family. I’d buy that gorgeous Grand designs style house by the sea, on the beach, in the sun.

So, why would I choose to try Lottoland? Why not just play the National Lottery or Euromillions? Well, because Lottoland is not playing the lottery, it’s about betting on the outcome, they can offer extra incentives like a free bet or sometimes they increase prizes. It’s a simple concept, you bet on the outcome of the lottery, you just select the lottery you want to play, choose your numbers and submit your lines.

So, no you’re not actually playing the EuroMillions or US Powerball or Irish Lotto, you’re betting on the outcome, the numbers that will be drawn, and, bit like the actual lottery, the prize you win depends on the number of balls you match. Lottoland say they “will match the prizes of each tier, including the jackpot, that the official lottery operators pay out”, so you’ll still win as if you had won with an official lottery ticket.

So, if you play US PowerBall, correctly guess 5 numbers (but not the PowerBall), you would win the second prize tier, around £34,000 and say they Lottoland will then match this prize.

It is worth noting that Lottoland aren’t just some random website, they are are fully licensed by the UK Gambling Commission which means they have to prove they are “able to make all required payments to our players on all the prizes we offer should they win.” It’s seems a bit unbelievable that they match prizes but it seems they have insurance policies to cover when they have to pay huge payouts. So, part of the price you pay goes towards the payment of the insurance policies.

I do think the extras which Lottoland can offer, the free bets, special offers and unique features such as Double Jackpot are enticing. Oh, how I dream of a house on a beach!

What do you think? Do you have a few ideas of what you’d spend the money on if you won?
