Litecup Review and Giveaway – Litecup a cup with a nightlight!

I recently discovered the Litecup, a cup with a nightlight built in. Yes, a cup your toddler can find in the dark on their own! That sounds amazing to me! I’m sure it does to many of you too, who are also frequently woken by screams for a “drink” or just screams!

Anyway, I was very kindly gifted a LittleLiteCup for Toddler H to try and she loves it. It’s also brilliant for us as she is taken with it, and her old night time cup, had a broken top that sometimes leaked, and she sometimes would use it to sooth herself back to sleep. We’ve been using the cup for a week now, and have only had one issue when we left it in her bed. No, it didn’t leak, it’s got a no-leak 360 top, H awoke from a nightmare to a blue light right in her face as she’d moved and the lit up cup was literally against her nose. She was rather freaked out by the ‘pond and crocodiles snapping’ when I got in to her. I still think it’s a great concept, just not when left in a toddler’s bed! A bedside table is the best place for it.

Anyway, back to the cup…

The Litecup Review…

The Litecup – what’s the deal?

  • has a 360 no leak top
  • free-flow drinking
  • suitable for any cold non-fizzy drink
  • has a built in nightlight so little ones can always find their drink
  • light sensitive so you don’t need to turn it on and off, it just works
  • comes in a variety of colours
  • comes in two sizes:
    • Little Lite Cup – 220ml (Age 6+ months)
    • Lite Cup – 330ml (Age 12+ months)
  • easy to clean – the whole top comes apart
  • battery ‘pod’ removes from the bottom to clean
  • oh it’s BPA free
  • and, it won a Mother and Baby Gold Award 2017!

Colours… it comes in a huge variety of colours, from blue to red, pink to green and every other colour your toddler might choose.

Using a Litecup…

We went with a Mini Litecup, as we don’t want Toddler H drinking too much through the night, and that is actually something she’s been really good at since potty training and being dry through the night. We thought the slightly smaller size might be good for her and much easier to hold at night. Obviously, that’s just our opinion.

Toddler H asks for her purple cup when she puts her PJs on, and is so happy with the colour. Actually even before it arrived she was excited and asking “my see my purple cup now?” Luckily it arrived quickly.

When the cup did arrive, Toddler H was so excited. Purple and pink seem to be her favourite colours at the moment so I was glad in choosing the purple she was happy.

When it arrived, I loved the packaging, simple and clear, and quickly unpacked it ready to use that night.

The battery compartment in the bottom MUST be removed before washing the cup, and this is something that will perhaps test my baby brain mind. Luckily replacement battery light sections can be bought for only £2.50, so they won’t break the bank. We’re going to order a couple in preparation!

I also noticed that you can get a replacement light that is either blue or red, so we could try red too. You know, it’s nice to have variety sometimes…. especially if we have any  more ‘pond’ nightmares!

I think it’s also worth mentioning that the Litecup can be used anytime, it’s brilliant for little ones as it’s free flow 360 drinking while also being no-spill – so far we haven’t experienced any spills or leaks yet… so it does look like it actually is no spill!

It is worth noting this statement on the Litecup website:

“It’s spill proof, not 100% leak proof – if your child holds it upside down and shakes it vigorously small drops will come out. sometimes if it gets pushed along on bedsheets the valve can also get held open and then the water could come out – see 100% disclosure! we like it this way though – we think it’s the best balance of great drinking experience while still minimising life’s disruptions. we hope you do too.”

However, the cup could also be used by other members of the family who might struggle to find a cup.

Verdict

We love the Litecup, it’s such a good idea, and have our fingers crossed that it keeps Toddler H from shouting for us to give her her drink. So far it seems to be working most of the time. I also think it’s a brilliant cup in general, encouraging little ones to drink properly and not use a bottle or a spout. The nightlight is a brilliant extra, and great for that morning drink when little one wakes (obviously assuming you’re happy they drink on their own!).

Ooh yes we love our ‘disco cups’ as renamed by Tigs! I’d actually like one for me too as I’m forever pushing the cat away from sipping my water and once knocked a whole pint of water over myself in bed, in the middle of the night!
This is for sure a genius product…
