Thinking About Colours

We moved into our new home a couple of weeks ago. We LOVE it. It’s just what we were looking for, a perfect size for our little family and great for H to grow up in, crawl and play. New mummy blog thinking about paint colours for home diy

The previous owners were going to do it up but ended up not, so we get to do it ourselves and choose exactly what we want instead; a much better option in our book! We did loads to our old house and were ready for a new project. To be honest we could have bought other houses we saw but didn’t as they were spotless and had been done up very recently. Often not quite the way we’d have done it, but given then newness we’d have felt it a waste of money redoing it all. Anyway, we’d much rather put our own stamp on our new home.

So, today we plodded on down to B&Q to look at paint. The whole house is painted a very very pale pinky/purple colour. As much as purple is my favourite colour, this is not my cup of tea. It’s also not been painted in years so it’s a bit grubby and marked in places.

Here’s what we’re thinking for the living room… warm light brown, natural shades, like these:

I think Rice Cake is paler than I had in mind (you can see the pale purple I’m talking about here too).  Maybe we’ll have to try some more testers… tbc!
