Last weekend we were invited to stay in a Caldey Lodge at Bluestone Wales, free of charge so we could experience this lovely holiday resort. Despite our accommodation being free we paid for other things like our golf buggy, and all opinions are honest and our own. Our lodge was lovely and much more spacious than I imagined, as well as much more spacious than it looked from the outside.

Our Caldey Lodge

We stayed in a Caldey Lodge at Bluestone which had 2 bedrooms and everything we could need.

*Video

I did a wee Caldey Lodge tour video when we arrived and it’s really the best way to see and appreciate the size of the lodge and see everything that’s included.

I even videoed the kitchen cupboards so do have a watch (What’s in kitchen at Bluestone) if you’re going to Bluestone on holiday, as I assume everything included in our kitchen is also included in other lodges at too.

A huge plus point for the Caldey lodge is it’s interconnecting door – excellent if you’re holidaying with friends or family so you can stay next door and in the evening the kids can sleep while the adults can actually be social! We stayed on our own and had a fab time (enjoyed finishing our books), and didn’t hear a peep from the folks next door.

Here are a few photos to give you a quick overview, but I’d recommend watching the video to get a real feel for the lodge and the spaciousness. Photos don’t do it justice!

What’s included in a Bluestone lodge?

Bluestone is billed as 5* National Park resort and I can see why, I can’t possibly list everything that is included here – it really had everything we needed. The welcome package was lovely as we didn’t even need any more dishwasher tables. We struggled to think of anything that wasn’t included… our not included at Bluestone list consisted of:

  • Kitchen towel
  • Cot bedding
  • Towels for pool
  • Golf buggy (we definitely recommend hiring one!)

Summary of the main things included in our Bluestone lodge stay:

For little ones: Highchair, cot, cot mattress, kids cutlery, plates, bowls

Kitchen: washing liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets, tea towel, 1 spare bin bag (1 for regular rubbish, 1 for recycling), dishcloth

Bathroom: towels, soap, nappy bin, spare toilet roll

Bedroom: safe, bedding, spare pillows

Sounds good doesn’t it!

We had a great time on our weekend, and would thoroughly recommend it. It was relaxing, and great for the girls to be able to run around safely outside (the resort is car free), and just play freely. The collected and counted pinecones, they played hide and seek, chase, tig, running… All while we sat watching from our picnic bench at the lodge.

We found having a golf buggy, really useful. No, great fun. As much fun for us as the kids! It just meant we could go up and down all over the resort easily and quickly without having to bribe kids, push pushchairs, listen to whining or carry two kids.

We did love our wee BBQ too!
