Presents for a one year old (?10+)

Life with a toddler
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

We’ve recently had Baby H’s first birthday and also Christmas only a few weeks later. This meant she got some brilliant presents, which is recommend to everyone else!
Here are some of our favourite presents?for a one year old (?10+):

  1. A ride on – we bought H this Zebra ride on three-in-one for her first birthday. (VTech 3-in-1 Zebra Scooter)
  2. A pushalong – like this pram. H loves putting* her toys in her pram to push around (*throwing/lobbing/dropping head first) (ELC Push Along Pram)
  3. A doll – we chose a soft bodied doll, and made sure to get one with eyes that opened and closed and looked nice, some were a bit freaky or heavy, or really big!
  4. Character toys from little one’s favourite programmes – our absolute favourite is Hey Duggee (he featured heavily at her birthday and on her birthday cake). This Duggee is 30cm and musical playing the theme tune and several Duggee catch phrases. Baby H LOVES him! I 100% recommend him to every parent who has a little one who likes Duggee. (Hey Duggee Woof Woof Duggee Soft Toy)
  5. Hand bag – yes a girly one! But H loves putting things in and out of tubs, pots, tubes, and of course my hand bags as well as her absolute favourite the changing bag!! (Fisher-Price Smart Stages Purse)

I should also mention this drum – this one from ELC is brilliant, lights and sounds (with volume control & on/off switch…. #parentingwin)

Do you recommend any other presents for one year olds?

Lynne x

I love that big Duggee soft toy! My daughter’s first birthday’s just been and she ended up with so much stuff from all the family – her favourite thing though has been the chicken out of the V-tech chicken coop. Its songs have been burned into my brain… #thebabyformula

Oscar is one in a month so I need all the ideas in the world. Who knew it was quite so difficult to decide what/how much to buy someone so little? A very helpful list. Oscar has most of these from Christmas as we got them early but I suspect we would have got them for his birthday had it been at any other time of the year. #TheBabyFormula

I’d say they need a Hey Duggee and handbag each 🙂 That’s the extent of my knowledge on the matter though as I only have one. I’ll have to pass it over to you to write that follow up post when you figure it out!!!

That ride on zebra is cute! We got our son a vtech car and garage. With cars, sounds and a ramp. We still play with it 4 months on but the way we play keeps changing. I love toys like that. More value for money. #KCACOLS

Finding nice gifts for one year olds can be hard at times. We also found that they would have a favorite too, so many toys would go without being played with.

    Thanks for sharing.

Lovely 1st birthday ideas. SIenna is now 18 months but I wrote a post last year about 10 toys to entertain a one year old and I mentioned a Leapfrog picnic basket. Sienna still plays with it. She also loves mega blocks and also she makes a tower using cubes. It is so interesting to see what other kids at the same age like. Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I would love to see you again on Sunday! 🙂 x
