A few weeks ago I was sent a fantastic new product. A product which makes breastfeeding out and about easier. A product which is trendy and ‘cool.’ A product which is so well thought out you’ll be just left thinking that’s brilliant. Ok so those might have been my reactions.Wearing a white Milky Tee Company breastfeeding t-shirt which has Mutha written in gold letters, with long zips on the sides

Why do I love my Milky Tee breastfeeding top so much?

I was sent a ‘Mutha’ breastfeeding top to review and I was thrilled. It just makes breastfeeding easy and I love that it is fashionable too. I feel like I’m actually ‘on trend’ for once.

I think this nursing top is a welcome change to the ‘usual’ contenders and it’s all because it was lovingly designed by a breastfeeding mummy. The Milky Tee Company was launched by a lovely lady called Lauren in February this year (2018), she’s already won the PayPal International Award at Voom this yea and her amazing concept (which she’s obviously registered) has taken off. I’ve seen it mentioned in various breastfeeding forums and Facebook groups… and some ladies have really been raving about these t-shirts in the Can I Breast-feed in it? groups.

Why are these breastfeeding tops so different?

… they have discrete zips to enable easy comfy breastfeeding. Not just a wee small zip, but a long 14″ zip on each side giving super easy access to baby. It’s also super discrete as the zips are on the side.

They are really easy to feed in and very comfy. I really didn’t feel at all ‘exposed’ unless B decided to yank the t-shirt across, but that’s an issue with any top. She’s at that ‘I’ll just pull your top to help myself phase!’

The designs

There are ‘in trend’ metallic (hello #metallicmonday’s on instagram!), mummy slogan-tastic, and a plain white version too.

The five designs are all shown in the Milky Tee Company Instagram post below:

First the designs were all white, and now there are black versions too.

They are practical to wear, they’re nice and long to easily wear with leggings and so while feeding you’re still covered. They’re actually 68cm long, which is longer than a normal t-shirt.

The sleeves have a turn up which is a lovely touch.

The quality

Like everything these days, cheaper definitely isn’t always better. The Milky Tee t-shirts are 100% combed cotton which is OEKO-TEX(R) certified – i.e. it doesn’t contain any harmful or irritating substances, safe for sensitive skin. Lauren the founder also spent a year tweaking the design such as the placement of the zips – giving confidence these are well thought out, and useable.

My verdict?

100% recommended. They definitely aren’t mumsy, and as much as I LOVE stripes, this is a welcome change. These are breastfeeding t-shirts are easy to use and really, so so discrete. Feeding when out and about is just plain easy, although I’ve never shieded away from feeding when out and about, wearing Jo Jo tops, H&M breastfeeding wear and also doing ouod (one up one down), this is the easiest breastfeeding top I’ve come across. I feel completely covered, and completely in control. I also think it’s a welcome change to having multiple layers and layers to move up or apart. These tops are definitely much more ‘summer friendly‘ breastfeeding wear!

They’re also soft and comfy, which scores definite mum points!

I can’t forget the little things that make companies like this stand out, fabulous companies run by mummies. Lauren is so inspiring, and her addition of milk bottle sweeties in the parcel were such a lovely touch – in my opinion, The Milky Tee Company definitely get bonus points for all of those extra little touches that make their customers feel special.

Oh what a cool design! I really struggled with clothes and breastfeeding – I honestly think that was part of my early giving up (5 months) because I just wanted nice clothes again! This would make a huge difference…
