What made mummy happy #5

Happy List, Life with a toddler

This is my fifth week joining the #HappyDays linky by Katy from What Katy Said and Sian from Quite Frankly She Said. I’ll aim to do this quick list each week of the things that have made me happy, keep track of time flying by and what we’ve been up to.

So what made me smile this week?

1.  Naps

This sounds silly as the lack of naps and fight to get H to nap, hasn’t  made me happy it’s been a constant struggle all week. She acts tired, scrunches up in her sleeping position on the floor, couch or on a cushion. She rests her head on the couch. But as soon as I take her to her cot she screams and won’t go in. Yesterday, she even led on the floor beside her cot & tried to sleep! We’re not sure if it’s because she got her leg stuck between the bars a few times last weekend or it’s just a phase. Needless to say, when she has napped I’ve really enjoyed my cup of tea, or coffee, and a well deserved biscuit.

2.  Coffee

I’ve needed it all week! I’ve driven 10 minutes to Waitrose just to get a free cup as the drive home is just long enough for H to fall asleep. It’s also an easy drive, so if she screams I’m not too harassed! That lovely sip of latte definitely makes me smile though.

3.  Parks & playing in the garden

This has rescued me from nap time grumpiness most days this week. H has loved it too, running round, feeding the rabbits pebbles….?! Don’t ask! I have no idea why she thinks they might like them! Letting of steam in the park has definitely helped with my frustration at H’s grumpy ness though ?
4. Skype

It was my dad’s birthday this week, so we had a lovely Skype with him, and mum mum even brought out his cake while we sang along, and clapped! H had a great time pretending to blow out the candles (though never at the right time)!

5. Gardening

I bought some new plants last Friday and have enjoyed pottering away, planting and arranging them on the 2 evenings H has gone to bed early enough. Hubby has also been busy laying the concrete for the new patio mini wall. The concrete blocks are all laid out now, and it looks brilliant.

6. Friday night

After a long week, I was very relieved to reach Friday evening. We had burritos and wine. The much needed wine we’d held out for all week, in our ‘we shouldn’t drink most night of the week pact’.

7. Hubby & Friends

These people provide so so so much support, reassurances and just lovely chats. I look forward to our classes and playgroup we go to on a Thursday, when the little ones run around and we are handed a cup of tea. Actually last week I had hot chocolate, and it was the best drink of the week. Sitting chatting watching the little ones playing safely and having a nice drink. I also have to mention hubby as he’s just amazing and comes home and immediately starts entertaining H, doing sleeping bunnies with her. She absolutely loves it when he gets home. She’s such a quick learner too, to the extent she makes him lie down for sleeping bunnies, and on asking if she’d like to do sleeping bunnies she tries to take his phone out of his pocket (to stream it to the TV!).

I’m keeping my fingers crossed this cot screaming stage doesn’t go on much longer…. I need her to have a nap most days, grumpy H is not fun! I also would quite like our old routine of her going to bed nicely without screaming the house down too. Here’s hoping I’m not writing this again next week! Oh and any tips, are welcome!

Lynne x

LJ has given up her naps completely now. However, in that inbetweeny stage I had to put her in bed and pretend I was just going to tidy her room. I pottered about folding clothes etc etc until she drifted off. Worked like a charm!
