Hello lovelies!

I hope you will take a few minutes to read about the lovely blogger Victoria from Baby Prints Cheltenham, who has her own business creating the most gorgeous baby hand and footprints. Seriously, you WILL fall in love with them, and wonder why you didn’t get some of your little baby when they were a newborn. I am.

I hope this ‘Mummy In Business’ series will showcase a mums who are starting out on their own with their own businesses or embarking on a new challenge for instance freelancing, and see what other mummy’s are up to and how they readjust their work life balances.

Interviewing Victoria from Baby Prints Cheltenham

Business Name: Baby Prints Cheltenham
Business Started: My sister started the business in Cheltenham over 15 years ago but I took over at the beginning of last year so she could focus on her photography business.

Quick questions:

1. Tell us about your business?

We produce beautiful 3D casts of baby’s, children’s and adult’s hands and feet in delicate shades of terracotta.

2. Where do you deliver?

We are based in Cheltenham and as the work is done from our studio, we welcome anyone from the Gloucestershire area or beyond.  We have a few franchisees around the UK too, so if you are outside Gloucestershire, just check out our website to see if there’s one near you!

3. Price range?

Our prints start at £45 for an unframed baby’s hand or foot, up to £85 for our classic, framed baby hands or feet.

4. Why did you decide to start your business?

I decided to take over from my sister as I was a stay at home mum and had been looking for a job that was flexible, creative and I could undertake from home.  That’s not easy to find so I took the plunge!

5. What are your top tips to other mummy’s thinking about starting a business?

Flexibility is key.  Being able to work around your kids is brilliant but you can end up spending a lot of time working in the evenings and at weekends.  Be prepared for this.

List, lists and more lists – Planning is key.  You need to manage your time efficiently and plan what you want to do when.  Find a good business planning book and fill it in regularly so you keep on track with your goals and objectives.

Strength in numbers – Find another, or even better a group of other local mum’s running their own business to network with, share ideas with and catch up regularly.  They can be a motivational tool, a sounding board and an ideas machine to you.  An invaluable resource.  CheltenhamMaman runs a MumBoss Club and runs great events for mum bosses in Gloucestershire and has just launched an accountability partnership programme which matches like-minded mums in business up to partner in this way.

A bit more from Victoria:

Although it’s sometimes tough as a mum in business, I absolutely adore what I do and that’s vital for me.   I spent years in Marketing and Events but after having my babies, I wanted something more flexible and more importantly more creative as I come from a family of designers, advertisers, photographers and crafters.

I love meeting new parents and their babies and children and I absolutely love producing wonderfully detailed pieces of art for my customers.

Babyhood goes by so fast. Blink and you miss it.

I have two children of my own, aged 3 and 6 and it feels like they are approaching teenage hood already!!! Where did my babies go?  I am so glad that along with the photos I have, I still have my children’s Baby Prints to keep forever, to remind me how small and fragile they once were and I am so happy that I get the opportunity to capture these moments for my customers too.

I am DBS/CRB checked, have been thoroughly trained by my sister, who has spent over 15 years in this business, and I am an utter perfectionist, so you can rest assured your Baby Print has been worked on to the highest standard and is in the safest hands.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me for further information.

These are very unique. When my daughter was born we had a hand and foot case made for her. Something we will treasure forever!

These are gorgeous! I remember looking at these when Rory was first born but for one reason or another we never got round to getting any done. I really wish we had now as I think it’s such a lovely idea. Great way to remember just how tiny those little hands and feet really were! #KCACOLS
