Hi everyone, we’ve been very kindly sent some Chalkola chalk pens and Chalkola chalkboard to review plus, you lucky lot can also win a set of Chalkola pens in a giveaway – enter at the bottom of this post! (uUK only entries only!).

Chalkola sent us a set of a box of 30 Chalkola chalk pens and chalk board so we could get creative, and H didn’t waste any time in getting going. As with many 5 year olds seeing coloured pens, she just assumed they were for her, so I had to wait for my turn!

She did need help to get the pens started as they don’t work straight out of the box…

How to get the Chalkola pens to work…

Chalkola pens need a really good shake to get them started, and some pushing of the end. I tended to start them off as it made life simpler, but a good shake gets the colour flowing.

Why are Chalkola chalk pens so good?

As you can see chalkola chalk pens aren’t like normal chalks they flow much better and give such a brilliant intense colour, drawings and writing really stands out from the chalk board. They’re also much easier to write with than normal chalk.

There is  no dust or mess. The pens just work and produce a vibrant colour with a lovely flow, just like using a felt tip pen.

I have a cheap chalk pen and have always struggled with it, it just doesn’t work anywhere near as well, nor does it write as clearly as the Chalkola chalk pens. It doesn’t flow as nicely.

What colours do chalk markers come in?

I’d like to say every colour of the rainbow, but that obviously isn’t accurate… but it would be hard to find a shade in my pack of 30 that I missed. In saying that, they do come in other shades – including metallic, neons, earthy, and even vintage sets! To put it mildly, Chalkola pens come in a vast range of colours, and shades and are suited to so many situations as a result.

Chalkola pen packs come in various sizes from 5 white markers, to 30 markers including neon colours, and some packs include metallic markers ranging from under £10, to around £25.

Pen nips vary too from fine tips to chunky markers for kids.

What surfaces can you use Chalk markers on?

Chalk makers are fantastic for writing on so many different surfaces from windows to writing your weekly menu… the Chalkola store on Amazon says they are perfect for …

“Restaurant Menu Boards, Bistro Boards, White board, LED Writing Board, Wedding parties, Window markers, Car Windows, Kids art, School work, Marking dates on food Containers…”

– quoted from the Chalkola Amazon Store

That’s quite a list, isn’t it?!

I’ve really enjoyed labeling our jars with the enclosed labels. They really are useful!

Chalk labels for jars – organising the kitchen

I’ve certainly enjoyed the chalk labels which came in our box of markers. Getting the kitchen organised after the chaos of 2020 has been lovely.

We had some chalk labels in our box of markers, but you can get a smaller box with 6 chalk markers and 50 chalk labels for jars with them.

Chalk markers for writing on glass

Chalk is temporary and so fantastic for writing on glass. We made a rainbow on the girls’ bedroom window using the Chalkola pens, which they LOVED when they saw.

When using Chalkola chalk markers on glass windows, make sure you have kitchen roll handy and watch out for drips! They can take a bit of scrubbing on wooden window ledges and also on the edges of window frames.

You can actually get thicker 15mm jumbo chalk markers for writing and drawing on windows.

Chalkola Chalk Board (+ Art Supplies)

We were kindly sent a Chalkola chalk board as well and it’s a brilliant size chalk board – 35 x 28 cm and feels a really large size to write and draw on. The chalk board came with one white chalk marker and we found it really smooth and that the chalk markers wrote really nicely on it. The chalk board has a stand and seems really stable when I or H write or draw on it and the ledge for putting the markers on is really useful.

Our verdict on Chalkola chalk markers…

I’d thoroughly recommend the Chalkola marker pens and chalk board. They work so easily, have such vibrant colours and have none of that chalk dust which plagues us! I’m even tempted to start letting H draw with them when she’s slept until the Gro clock turns yellow. This NEVER happens, so it might be the incentive she needs!
