Toddler friendly holiday – Menorca

Given it’s been almost a year since we went on holiday to Menorca, I thought it was about time I got my act in gear and wrote about it! I’ll do the hotel review separately as it really was fab! We really wanted a toddler friendly holiday and Menorca proved to be right on target for several reasons…

5 reasons we think Menorca is a toddler friendly holiday destination

We had a brilliant time, it was perfect for an 18 month old, and we really would recommend Menorca for several reasons…

1.  Close to the UK

Our flight was only 2 hours from Bristol! You can’t ask for much closer and get the holiday resort feel, sun and relaxation! We also did a bit of preparation and found the flight much much easier than we had feared – Toddler H was brilliant… if you’re going on holiday definitely check out my tips for flying with a toddler (it’s my most popular post!).

2.  Lots of flights

Being a Balearic Island, there are loads of flights and so many flight operators to choose from. We booked our flights and hotel separately using Travel Republic, but obviously it’s super easy if you use a holiday travel agent too!

3.  Warm, but not too warm

We visited at the end of May and it was in 22-25C and sunny most days. Perfect and not too hot for a toddler, and us parents could relax too. We found that using Boots Soltan kids 8 hour sun tan lotion reassured us with the sun anyway – as it really did protect Toddler H all day. I think avoiding temperatures of 30C definitely made it a toddler friendly holiday!

4.  Child friendly

Everything we read and researched before choosing Menorca said it was perfect for families and kids. We definitely agree! All the waiters and staff were brilliant with Toddler H, there was a play park in the hotel, a lovely kids pool, IKEA highchairs, the works.

5.  Relaxing

I know people say once you have kids a holiday is just the same stuff in a different place, but I’m a firm believer that that is not the case. How can you not be happier and more relaxed when you’re together as a family? How can you not enjoy that change of scene? Little ones, even at 18 months old love the new things, the new experiences and the new places to explore. That is what makes a holiday! We found Menorca incredibly relaxing and geared to be a toddler friendly holiday.

We took our light weight stroller so we could try to get H to nap, even then at 18 months, she wasn’t napping at home, but the sun and all that exploring, along with daddy’s after lunch walk with the pushchair did mostly get her to have a nap, so mummy and daddy even managed to sit and read by the pool. We had a brilliant time in the hotel we stayed at and found it very child friendly, even having IKEA high chairs – isn’t that a sign of toddler friendliness?

So there you go, 5 reasons why Menorca makes a great first holiday abroad, and a great holiday with a toddler.

Have you stayed in Menorca? Do you recommend a hotel?

Ah looks perfect! We are off to Cyprus in a week or so and very excited! I think a short flight is the most important and hardly any time difference! Lovely pics and thanks for sharing with #bestandworst x

This sounds fantastic reasons to go with little ones. I always think being close and having plenty of flights makes that trip that little bit easier X #bestandworst

Menorca is on our list for next year, I have never been before so had no idea if it was suitable for children or not. The short flight time and not too hot weather is what is making us want to visit, plus the fact it is quieter then the other Balleric islands x
