Retractable stair gate review Babydan baby proof and baby safety

We love the BabyDan Guard Me retractable stair gate, it’s the perfect gate for stairs as it really doesn’t get in the way. It is a folding stair gate which means it doesn’t stick out, it sits nicely near the wall. It also retracts automatically when you unclick it, you just need to ‘control’ or guide it back into place. It’s very easy, not likely to trap fingers.

We bought this retractable stair gate two years ago from John Lewis for £36.99 and I know it is often that price at John Lewis still, and sometimes on Amazon too.

Why do we love the BabyDan Guard Me retractable stair gate?

  • It pulls right back ✔️
  • It is easy to use ✔️
  • It’s one handed! ✔️
  • It seems very sturdy – she it hangs off it! ✔️
  • It has lasted for over two years with daily use ✔️

We had recently stopped using the gate all the time to let Toddler H be more independent now she is 3, however, it’s now firmly back in use! 🙉 See my last Instagram post if you want to see why!

We’ve a few other tricks to share so do check back, or have a look at how I first did baby proofing when Toddler H started to crawl – baby proofing tips of a first time mum!

We also tried some new kitchen cupboard locks once H was toddling about which were great, just make sure you clean the area the pad will be stuck really really well – Magnetic kitchen cupboard locks

Meanwhile, have fun chasing your crawling little one! I know I’d forgotten how relentless they can be!

I WISH I’d read this six years ago! We have had traditional gates up for years and they drive me mad!
